Chance, portrayed by Hunter Romanillos, is a recurring character in the fourth and fifth seasons of Stranger Things. He is Jason Carver's friend and teammate.
History
Background
Chance was born around 1971, and he comes from a Filipino-American family, however nothing is known about his family life. In 1985, Chance attended Hawkins High School and was friends with Jason Carver, Patrick McKinney and Andy Harper. They became close and joined the basketball team together.
1986
Chance makes an appearance during the basketball match between the Hawkins Tigers and Falcons. When Jason requests that the game be halted briefly, he can be seen listening and ready for the game to resume. Chance is shown congratulating Lucas when he makes the game-winning shot.
He is seen with Andy and Patrick the next morning as they watched ThunderCats, before the channel changed to the news, causing Chance hit the TV to change the channel.
When Jason learns that his girlfriend, Chrissy Cunningham, has been brutally killed, he begins a manhunt for the person of interest, Eddie Munson, and Chance joins the manhunt.
Chance supports the manhunt that Jason sparked and is loyal to Jason and his other buddies, as seen by the fact that he does what Jason commands. He is clapped after Jason said the town is tired of listening to "lies and excuses", and handed out copies of papers with an image of the Hellfire Club to the locals.
1987
Chance is seen alongside Andy bullying Dustin at his locker about him continuing to wear his Hellfire shirt. Chance backs up a few Andy’s remarks and watches as Dustin is pushed against the locker and his shirt is ripped. However, once Lucas begins to remind Andy of being kicked in the crotch by Erica, and is threatened to have worse happened to him, he begins to back off. Mike and Will show up and both boys walk off, shoving Lucas as they pass.
Chance is once again seen with Andy, as both boys go to their locker. When Andy opens his locker to Jake, the corn snake, he stands confused as Andy launches himself back into the wall out of fear.
Chance is then seen with Andy, Paul, and Hunter, when they confront Dustin at Eddie’s grave for the prank he pulled on Andy. Chance takes part in beating Dustin up and is the only one of the group to appear unscathed.
1989
Chance’s final appearance in the show is during the graduation. He is seated beside Max, and has no lines or actions besides adjusting his cap for a moment.

Personality
Chance occasionally has a sense of humor and is loyal to Jason and his buddies. After Chrissy's funeral was over, Jason and the gang talked about Eddie's whereabouts. Chance laughs at Patrick's statement to the others that they could have been cursed by the Hellfire Club. When Chance does this, he is interrupted by Jason, who states that none of this is funny.
